Beach Green Dunes II

Beach Green Dunes Phase II will complete the Far Rockaway housing development with an eight story, 120 unit affordable housing project. Along with Phase I, completed in the Fall 2017, and currently the largest building anticipated to achieve certification by the Passive House Institute in the United States (PHIUS), the complex implements several advanced sustainable components.

Phase II features progressive building envelope and HVAC systems to provide unprecedented levels of comfort and air quality in order to meet Passive House certification standards. The innovations of the core structure are augmented by a series of environmental design considerations such as a bio-swale garden to treat and retain storm water, solar photovoltaics on the roof and a geothermal heating/cooling system underground.
