The Hopper Home is the oldest halfway house for women in America. Constructed in 1838, the Greek revival townhouse was restored and renovated to accommodate a transitional residence program with facilities that include a dormitory, a community dining room, an institutional kitchen and offices. Renovation work encompassed the entire building and included the reconfiguration of two floors, installation of a new roof, construction of a new roof garden, façade preservation, and all interior finishes within a limited budget. The project was funded by the City and State of New York.
