The Trinity-Reverend James Senior Apartments

C+GA is designing a new 154-unit affordable senior housing and community facility project in the Morrisania neighborhood of the Bronx. The 114,000 square foot building will provide in-house support services for the residents with ample social and recreation space to promote healthy living through age friendly and active design. The ground floor will be activated by a community room and gym, creating a second living room for seniors to interact with other residents, along with a sun room and terrace that allow opportunity for a community garden and physical activity.

The building mass is broken down to complement the diversity of the surrounding neighborhood, with a variety of façade treatments. The façade is a pre-fabricated panel system on a steel structure, with a mix of thin brick, fiber-cement panel, and EIFS finishes. The brick transitions from dark grey at the building base to white at the top, giving a lighter feel to contextualize the massing. The setback on the sixth floor allows for a recreational green roof terrace for the residents.

The energy efficient building is designed to meet Enterprise Green Communities standards, will have a highly insulated building envelope and an advanced mechanical system to create a comfortable environment for its residents and visitors.
