C+GA Honored by NYSERDA for Empire Building Challenge Involvement
C+GA was honored by NYSERDA for our innovation and leadership in building decarbonization. Partner Mark Ginsberg and Architect Weijia Zhang celebrated with other firms and industry leaders taking part in the Empire Building Challenge – a phased, resource-efficient approach to eliminating emissions from tall buildings in cold climates.
C+GA is collaborating with Paths Development LLC, Bright Power, and Loring Consulting Engineers on the renovation and energy retrofit of Whitney Young Manor, a four-building affordable housing development in Yonkers, NY. With funding from NYSERDA, the complex will receive comprehensive modernization, including a heat pump system and an overhauled ventilation system, along with transformation of the exterior through overcladding, new windows, and a new roof that will dramatically improve insulation to reduce heating and cooling loads.
These improvements will usher a carbon neutral future for Whitney Young Manor, while preserving essential affordable housing.
